The Wyoming Capitol in Cheyenne was evacuated Tuesday after a report of a suspected explosive device, according to authorities.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol also said that a “multi-agency, precautionary response” was being conducted by other agencies including itself, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, the Cheyenne Police Department and federal agencies.

He said, “This incident is an ongoing investigation. All Capitol Building staff have been informed of the situation. The safety of staff is my top priority and all Capitol Building staff have been evacuated out of an abundance of caution to ensure their safety.”
The incident at the Wyoming Capitol follows several notable incidents of political violence, including the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the shooting of a Minnesota lawmaker and two assassination attempts against President Trump.
