The report has found additional controversial social media posts made by Maine Senate candidate Graham Plattner several years before his bid to unseat Senator Susan Collins (R).
The Bangor Daily News wrote That Plattner – who is already Rejected your previous posts On the social platform Reddit – In a thread of Reddit questions reportedly asking why black people “don’t tip” users “always want to ask a person of another race.”
Plattner reportedly wrote, “I work as a bartender and it always amazes me how solid this stereotype is.” “From time to time a black patron will leave a 15-20% tip, but usually it [is] Between 0-5%. There must be some reason behind this, what is it?”
Reports also revealed that Plattner posted comments related to violence and sexual harassment in the military, which he denied in separate statements to outlets.

Washington Post informed Plattner also posted messages related to sexual harassment, raising doubts about the difficulties female service members face when reporting incidents of assault by superior officers.
“I can honestly say I had no idea what I was talking about,” Plattner told the Post. “I have been on the opposite side of this conversation for a long time.”
He said, “I don’t want people to judge me based on the stupidest thing I said on the Internet 12 years ago.” “I would like people to connect with who I am today.”
The Hill contacted Plattner’s campaign for additional comment.
Plattner’s post on Reddit first began to surface This week. He had reportedly previously posted about being a “communist” and called the police “bastards”.
He told outlets that he joined Reddit after serving in the military, an experience which he said left him “deeply disillusioned with our government, which sent me overseas to watch my friends die.”
Plattner is a Marine and U.S. Army veteran who served four combat tours in Iraq. He entered the Senate race against Collins in August, and made headlines for drawing huge crowds and raising more than $4 million in funding in the weeks after filing for the race. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) first described – before the controversy – “as a great working class candidate for the Senate in Maine who will defeat Susan Collins.”
Plattner’s Reddit posts were deleted before he launched his Senate campaign.
His comments came after Maine Gov. Janet Mills (D) announced She will run for Senate. If elected, Mills, 77, will be the oldest new senator to serve in Congress.
