San Francisco–NBA fined Golden State Warriors Ahead Jonathan Kuminga $35,000 for actions that led to him being ejected in the first half of Tuesday night’s preseason win at Portland.
Kuminga was frustrated when he did not get a whistle on a shot attempt with seven seconds left in the second quarter. Kuminga fumbled while attempting a transition drive barreling through two defenders, missed the layup and immediately went after nearby official Rodney Mott and clapped Mott in the face. Mott eliminates Kuminga.
Two days later, the league fined Kuminga for “making inappropriate contact with a game official and continuing to stalk him.”
After the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said he “felt pretty good.” [the ejection]Really” because he’s looking for some extra fire from Kuminga.

After some contentious contract negotiations this summer, Kuminga returned to the Warriors on a two-year, $46.8 million contract earlier this month, arriving to training camp a few days late. He has shown some improved playmaking in the preseason and had 7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists at the time of his ejection.

Kuminga hurt his hand during the drive, but he told ESPN in the locker room after the game that he was most troubled by the cut on his right ankle on his collecting step.
