San Francisco (crone) — Rock icon Carlos Santana has hit back at rumors that he opposed Bad Bunny’s upcoming movie super bowl halftime showPosts circulating online claimed that the multi-Grammy Award-winning guitarist was unhappy with the selection of the Puerto Rican superstar as this year’s halftime entertainer.
Some people even went so far as to claim that Santana was offering herself as a possible replacement.
Santana strongly denied the rumors on Facebook on Monday and threw his support behind Bad Bunny.
“I celebrate and congratulate Bad Bunny on his success and his position in the world and in the Super Bowl,” Santana said in a statement. “I feel complete unity with what he is doing because we are here to use art to complement and bring the world closer to harmony and unity.”
Santana continued, “However, we live in a time of fear, division, separation, superiority and inferiority.” “Right now fear is the flavor. Fear is what drives ignorant people to put words in my mouth – saying I did not want Bad Bunny represented in the Super Bowl. I never said that, nor would I ever do that.”
He added, “To be clear, my heart goes out completely with Bad Bunny and I celebrate his success, his victories, and his unprecedented accomplishments. Anything other than that is coming from people’s ignorance.”
Santana’s manager, Michael Vrionis, dismissed the rumors, including the rumor that Santana criticized Bad Bunny for wearing a dress at a performance, as AI misinformation.
“AI has accelerated the spread of misinformation, making it harder to distinguish truth from noise,” Vrionis said in a statement quoted by Billboard. “Don’t trust random or unverified posts – even well-intentioned outlets can be misguided.”
Santana, 78, was born in Mexico and later moved to San Francisco with his family in the early 1960s. He formed the Santana Blues Band in 1966. The following year, the band shortened its name to Santana.
