Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and former President Clinton credited President Trump with securing the ceasefire in Gaza and the return of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
“Today is an amazing day. It’s a huge sigh of relief that, finally, the last surviving hostage brutally held hostage by Hamas has come home,” Schumer said in a statement obtained by The Hill’s sister network NewsNation.
“I commend the tireless advocacy for hostage families, President Trump, his administration, and everyone who helped make this moment possible,” the Senate Democratic leader said.
All 20 surviving Israeli hostages Israel and Hamas backed off on Monday, with the undertaking of the first phase of a peace deal backed by the Trump administration.

Trump encouraged Israeli leaders to move from war to peace. The President told the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, that Israel had won “everything it could by force of arms” and expressed Optimism about the region Future.
Other prominent Democrats praised the ceasefire and the return of the hostages without giving credit to the President.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said, “Thankfully, all 20 surviving Israeli hostages are home with their loved ones. And humanitarian assistance is being increased for Palestinian civilians in Gaza.” said on monday at x“We must now recommit to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region. Former President Obama said, “After two years of unimaginable loss and suffering for Israeli families and the people of Gaza, we should all be encouraged and relieved that the conflict is nearing an end; those hostages still being held will be reunited with their families; and critical aid can begin to reach those inside Gaza whose lives have been ruined.”A post on Thursday on XImmediately after the announcement of the approval of the deal.
