Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) encouraged more Republicans to speak out against the deployment of federal troops on state borders, calling recent criticism from Oklahoma’s GOP governor “good news.”
“We all have to stand together because there [are] “The really unconstitutional actions that are coming out of this administration are falling upon the states and the people of the United States and all of us, Democrat and Republican, need to speak out about it,” Pritzker said in an interview on ABC News’ “This Week.”
Pritzker praised Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt (R) push back The Texas National Guard’s presence in the Greater Chicago area was described as a clear violation of their belief in states’ rights.
Pritzker told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, “One thing I want to point out, you mentioned Governor Stitt, who specifically said we should not federalize troops in one state and send them to another state, he would be upset if I sent troops to his state.”
He added, “I’m outraged that Greg Abbott’s troops are coming to my state. And even Governor Scott in Vermont has called it unconstitutional.” “So, good news. Republicans are now calling out the Trump administration. More people should do so.”

“We believe in the federal system — that’s states’ rights,” Stitt told the Times. “Oklahomans would be shocked if Pritzker in Illinois sent troops to Oklahoma during the Biden administration.”
“I was surprised that Governor Abbott sent troops from Texas to Illinois,” Stitt said in the interview. “Abbott and I sued the Biden administration when the shoe was on the other foot and the Biden administration was trying to force us to vaccinate all of our troops and mandate masks across the country.”
“As a Federalist believer, one governor against another governor, I don’t think that’s the right way to approach this,” Stitt said.
By Wednesday night, about 200 Texas National Guard troops and 300 Illinois National Guard troops had been activated in the Greater Chicago area.an updateFrom US Northern Command.
