The former New York Government David Patterson (D) compared the success of Zoharan Mamdani on Sunday as the city’s Democratic Mayorl candidate as President Trump’s political rise a decade ago.
“The support that is receiving … the number of people he is registering, the number of people who go to his rallies … If I had napped my eyes 10 years ago, there was another person who was able to do so, and his name is Donald Trump, whose political ideology is opposite to the host,” John catsimetidis During the Radio Show “Cats Roundable” at WABC 770 AM.
“This is demonstrating a new campaign style, where you speak as orally as possible … Donald Trump invented it,” he said.
Mamdani defeated former New York village Andrew Quomo (D) in primary and targeted voters disintegrating voters, which earned a large audience with progressive policies, including free fare, city-run grocery shops and proposals of Costless Childcare.
Republican and installation Democrats have highly criticized measures, who have said that all schemes are outside the purview of myarships.
“You don’t take the city from a soapbox. You take it with action, not rhetoric,” the supporting mayor Eric Adams (D) said while kicking his independent reunion dialect.
However, Mamdani, who currently serves as the New York Assembly, stated that their policies are more than possible.
During an appearance on CNN, Mamdani said, “Freezing the rent, this is nothing that requires any fiscal production from the city.
He said, “A previous mayor administration stops the rent thrice. Therefore, this is a clear historical example,” he said.
While on the show, the Democratic Socialist also explained how he owns a grocery shops for Activist City.
“City-run grocery stores. I proposed a pilot program of a store in each boro. These are five stores in total. It has a total cost of $ 60 million. It is less than half a cost that has already been sent to the city to spend on subsidy program for corporate supermarkets, in which there is no guarantee of cheap prices or collective bargaining agreements or even acceptance.
Patterson said that proposals are receiving early traction in the race and noticed that Mamdani would be “a difficult candidate to defeat” in November.
