State College, Pa. -After his latest disadvantage to the top -10 rival, Nitney Lions coach James Franklin said he understands the growing frustration Pen state Fan base.
Nitney lion fell in third place 30-24 At number 6 in double overtime Oregan Saturday night in front of a “white out” crowd at the Bever Stadium.
The necklace dropped Franklin in Pen State 4–21 against the AP Top -10 opponents, including 1–18 against the top -10 Big Ten teams.
“I find that story and it’s not really a story – it’s factual. It’s the fact,” Franklin said. “I try to see the whole picture and what we have been able to do here. But at the end of the day, we found a way to win those games. I fully get it. And I take ownership. I take responsibility.”
According to ESPN Research, Franklin’s winning percentage against AP Top -10 teams. The percentage of winning is bound by a coach (minimum 25 game) for the third worst record in the same school.
“We have an emotional fan base,” said Franklin. “When we win, nothing is better. When we lose, nothing is bad. Therefore, I get it. I find the disappointment that comes with a fan base that is invested and cares.”
Nitney Lions returned to their largest fourth quarter since 2016 against Ohio State -Franklin’s only major ten wins against the top -10 rival.
Pen State fell behind 17-3, but senior quarterbacks Drew alaar Engineer to back-to-back touchdown drive to overtime the game. Nitney Lions then created a touchdown on the third game of opening overtime occupation.

“Obviously, it hurts,” Alar said. “We had our opportunities. … But this is a long season ahead of us. We have more opportunities to fix it – and I will be the first person to go to the fire.”
