Trump predicts government could shut down 'for a period of time'

President Trump on Friday predicted that the government would close “for some time” in the Senate between Republican and Democrats.

Trump expressed some pessimism about the two sides that arrive on an agreement that can get 60 votes in the Senate. The chamber has 53 seats in Republican, which means that at least seven democrats will need to support funding measures to keep the government open.

“We will continue to talk to Democrats, but I think you can finish very well with a closed country for some time,” Trump said. “And we will take care of the army. We will take care of social security. We will take care of the things that we have to take care of.

“A LOF of things fighting for Democrats cannot be paid for Democrats,” Trump said. “So we will see and see how we do with it.”

House Republican First Friday allowed A short -term government spending package to prevent a shutdown at the end of the month. The law was designed by Republican without a democratic input.

Hours later, Senate Democrats blocked the house-passed bill. Republican also defeated An alternative proposal This would move the time limit on 31 October, increasing the chances of a shutdown.

Republican stopped the Democratic proposal for the cost of an estimated $ 1.5 trillion, dismissing it as an unrealistic wish list, which would never get Tram’s signature to become a law.

Trump questioned whether the Republican would be able to make a deal with the Democrats, who have sought an expansion on health care subsidy and restored the Medicade Funding as part of an agreement.

“I don’t know if you can make a deal with these people,” said Trump. “I think these people are crazy.”

Trump thanked Sen John Fetterman (D-P.), who has pushed back the possibility of a shutdown.

“He wants to keep the country open,” said Trump. “We are doing good as a country.”
