President Trump is offering a tariff exemption for small packages, subjected to billions of dollars in foreign products to import taxes after the delayed months.
The White House is canceling the de minimis trade exemption starting at 12:01 pm on Friday, a step that enhances Trump’s trade reforms.
The new tariffs will apply to all countries, expanding them from China and Hong Kong, where they are effective for all American business partners since May.
Tariffs will apply to millions of commercial packages sent to the US every month, which is priced less than $ 800 or less.
Officials of the US senior administration told reporters on Thursday afternoon that the step would help in combating drug smuggling, piracy and fake goods and generate significant revenue.

How will it work?
From Friday, all shipments, including less than $ 800, are subject to duties, taxes and fees. Customs and Border Security (CBP) issued guidance related to the order earlier this month.
Shipments coming through commercial carriers, which represent about 95 percent of de minimis parcel, will require informal or formal admission designation documents and pay the relevant tariff.
Shipments coming from international mail carriers have an option to choose an advertisement Velorm tax rate, which is an effective tariff rate imposed under the law of emergency economic powers used by Trump that is to distribute its initial “mutual” tariffs. The tax is then based on the value of that package.
The International Mail Shipper can also inform CBP that they are choosing a “specific duties” for their package, ranging from $ 80 per item to $ 200 per item. This option is available only for six months, where shippers must use the topline Ed Velorm Tariff Rate.
