The White House on Thursday called Democrats, who criticized the perception of sending “thoughts and prayers” in the wake of a shoot in Minnesota, killing two children.
Press Secretary Karolin Lewit was asked about the comments of former Biden White House Press Secretary Jane Pisaki and Meyer Jacob Frey (D) of Miniapolis, which were important for the people offering “thoughts and prayers” in view of shooting, saying that it was not enough to keep children safe.
“I saw my predecessor, Ms. Pisaki’s comments, and clearly I think they are incredibly insensitive and derogatory to millions of Americans of faith in this country who believe in the power of prayer, who believe that prayer works,” Lewit said in a briefing.
“It is completely derogatory to achieve the power of prayer in this country,” Levit said she would encourage PSA and others to pray for the families affected in Minnesota.
Two children, 8 and 10 were aged Killed on Wednesday Morning in a shooting church in a shooting church in Miniapolis. Seventeen others were injured, including 14 children.
Immediately after the shooting, Pisaki, who served as a press secretary at the Biden White House for more than a year and now hosted a MNSBC show, posted on X that the prayer was posted on the prayer “not sufficiently frightening.”
“Prayer does not end the school shooting. Prayer does not make the parents feel safe to send her children to school,” Posted“Prayer does not bring these children back. Enough with thoughts and prayers.”
Fray offered a similar message, given that the shooting took place while the children inside the building were really praying. “
“These were American families, and the amount of pain they are now suffering, is extraordinary,” Frey said on Wednesday. “Don’t say that it is about ideas and prayers right now. These children were really praying.”
Many Democrats have pushed for hard gun laws to prevent large -scale firing in the United States. Republican has rejected the argument that gun law is an issue, instead arguing for tight security in schools and indicates mental health issues with shooters.
