At least three top officials at the Disease Control and Prevention Center on Wednesday resigned, saying that recent changes and leadership in their agency are preventing them from completing their duties as public health officials.
The resignation came on the same day when Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy announced changes to limit access to the Kovid -19 vaccine, and a few hours after the news broke, CDC director Susan Monarez was dropped from the agency.
Director of Demetre C. duskalkis, National Center for vaccination and respiratory diseases; Daniel Jarnegan, Director of National Center for Emerging and Zunotic infectious diseases; According to the email shared with Hill, CDC Chief Medical Officer Deb Humi has submitted his resignation.
NBC News said that Dr. Dr. Dr., Director of Public Health Data, Monitoring and Technology Office. Jane Ladon also resigned.
Announcing her resignation, in her email, Dasaklis wrote, “I am not able to serve in this role due to the ongoing weapons of public health.”
During the 2022 MPox outbreak, duskilis came to public prominence, leading to a reaction to the US disease that mainly spreads through men’s social networks that have sex with men.
Humi’s email, alleged political intervention in science being done in the agency, argued that the risks of vaccines were being increased at the cost of their life-saving effects on public health.
“For the good of the nation and the world, science in CDC should never be sensors or be subject to political breaks or interpretations. The vaccine saves life-it is an indisputable, well-established, scientific fact,” she wrote.
“Recently, the cost of life is the cost of rising risks and the rise of misinformation, as is displayed as the highest number of American Measles cases in 30 years and violent attack on our agency.”
Jerigan said, “I strongly believe in the mission of public health and the CDC has given that leadership for about 80 years, however, looking at the current context in the department, I think it is best for me to resign.”
These resignations come a few weeks after a shooter, when the CDC headquarters in Atlanta was attacked, claiming the life of a police officer. Kennedy’s critics exploded him to respond to his delay for the attack and others accused him of the flames of enmity towards public health workers. During his unsuccessful Presidential campaign, Kennedy referred to CDC as “Sespool of Corruption”.
Monarez, a long -time government scientist had recently confirmed as CDC Director, was allowed to leave his position after less than a month in the role.
“Susan Monarez is no longer director of the Disease Control and Prevention Center.
