Zelensky says he believes Putin is ‘afraid that United States will deliver us Tomahawks’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview broadcast Sunday that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is “afraid” [the] The United States will provide us with Tomahawks.”

“I knew about Tomahawks, it’s very sensitive for the Russians,” Zelensky told NBC News’ Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press.” “They are afraid of it [the] The United States can liberate Ukraine – I think Putin [is] afraid that [the] The United States will provide us with Tomahawks.”

during a White House meeting with Zelensky On Friday, President Trump said it is not “easy” for America long distance handover Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.

The president said, “It’s not easy for us to give it away… You’re talking about huge numbers of very powerful weapons.”

He said, “So, that’s one of the things we’ll talk about is, hopefully, they won’t need it, hopefully, we’ll be able to end the war, without having to think about Tomahawks.”

The possible shipment of Tomahawk missiles has recently become a notable point of discussion after Trump floated the idea.

“Are you disappointed that President Trump’s answer on Tomahawks wasn’t ‘yes’?”. Welker asked Zelensky.

The Ukrainian president responded, “Of course I want to, and of course we want to. And, of course, we understand how we can use it. And in my view, it can put pressure on Russia and push Putin to negotiate.”

Zelensky Noted on Friday that his military does not use only Tomahawks and he suggested that Ukraine could give “thousands” of its drones to the US in exchange for the missiles.

“You don’t just use Tomahawks,” he said. “If you want to hit a military target, you need thousands of drones. It works in conjunction with such missiles. Ukraine has thousands of drones of our production, but we do not have Tomahawks. So we need Tomahawks.”
