Zelensky arrives in DC, says war must be ended 'reliably'

Ukraine’s President Volodimier Zelancesi arrived in Washington, DC on Sunday night, saying he was grateful to President Trump’s invitation and wanted to “quickly and firmly” the war with Russia.

He also said that if a peace deal takes place, it must be permanent to avoid a situation where Russia can attack Ukraine again.

He especially focused on taking Russia to take parts of Crimea and Donbas region, stating that in a post on X that Russian President Vladimir Putin could not be established a new deal to give things to the things that he could then use as a springboard for a new attack.

Zelansky also criticized the “security guarantee”, stating that in 1994 it was given to Ukraine who did not work.

“And peace should be permanent. Not as it was years ago, when Ukraine was forced to leave Crimea and our east part – Donbas part – and Putin used it as a springboard for a new attack. Or when Ukraine was called a” security guarantee “in 1994, but he did not work.

He said, “Of course, Crimea should not have been given then, such as Ukrainian did not give Kiev, Odessa or Kharkiv after 2022. Ukrainians are fighting for their land for their freedom,” he wrote.

“I am confident that we will defend Ukraine, effectively guarantee security, and that our people will always be President Trump, every partner in America and all partners and their support and invaluable assistance,” Zelansky said.

“Russia should end this war, which it begins itself. And I hope our joint strength with America, with our European friends, will force Russia to a real peace. Thank you!”

On Sunday, US officials said Ukraine could be found Safety guarantee Article 5 is guaranteed by NATO in which the European country and the US will be committed to defending Ukraine, although not NATO.
