WhatsApp on Wednesday said it is bringing new features to group chats, including member tags, text stickers and event reminders.
With member tags, you can choose a name that gives other people in the group chat more context about who you are and what your role is. For example, you might be “Anna’s dad” in one group and “Goalkeeper” in another.
As far as text stickers go, you can turn any word into a sticker by typing your text in the sticker search. You can also add these newly-created stickers directly to your sticker pack without sending them to chat.
Event reminders let you set custom reminders for your invitees when you create and send an event in a group chat.
These new features come as WhatsApp continues to strengthen group chats with capabilities like sharing large files up to 2GB, sending HD media, screen sharing, voice chat, and more.
