Washech County, Uuta (Ktvx) – A rescue on a river in Utah shows body camera footage and shows a ranger and audience that a woman who helped save a woman got stuck under a bridge.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of June 28, when a ranger was approached by a citizen near the Trustle Bridge, which is located along the part of the Provo River in Vasach County. The person told Ranger that according to a woman who was pedaling under the bridge, was stuck. Press release from Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Law Enforcement,
The camera footage shared by DNR shows the ranger and an audience jumping into action, where they attempted to capture the woman’s head over the running water. The audience also begins to collect at the top of the bridge, given the rescue.
At one point, the ranger can be seen entering the water with a knife to cut a woman free from padboard. He instructs a citizen to take his radio, and tells him how to contact the County’s discovery and rescue department.
DNR said that women and rescue teams were about 30 minutes in water. In the video, the audience can be seen cheering when it is finally free.
DNR said that the water temperature was about 55 degrees Fahrenheit on that day; Washech County Search and Rescue and EMS responded and provided care to the people involved. Bystanders offered their blankets and sleeping bags to help with hypothermic conditions.
The DNR Division of Law Enforcement said, “We thank the Vasach County Search and Rescue, EMS and many citizens for their successful efforts in defense of this river. We also accept the life-saving efforts of our officers. They have entered the water in self-service, putting their own lives at risk to save another.”
