Warner Brothers are sueing the AI startup midzorney for copyright violations, alleging that the company allows users to generate images and videos of characters such as Superman, Batman and Bugs Bani without permission.
As reported earlier RootsWarner Brothers say that the mid -jorney was deliberately engaged in wrong conduct, given that the company had previously banned customers from generating material based on images that violated the customers, but recently removed those security.
The complaint stated, “Midzorney has taken a calculation and profit-driven decision to offer zero protection to copyright owners, although the midjorney knows about the breathtaking scope of its theft and copyright violations.”
The lawsuit seeks uninterrupted loss, withdrawal of any profits earned from alleged violations, and a stop for further violations.
Warner Brothers’ trial follows the same one filed in June Universal against Walt Disney and Universal To include characters such as Darth Wadar, Bart Simpson, Shrek and others for copyright violations. In this case, Midzorney has argued that using those functions to train generic AI models is legal under fair use of American copyright law.
Midjourney did not respond to Techcrunch’s remarks request.
