Vermont Gov. Scott calls on state senator to resign after report on GOP group chat

The messages obtained by POLITICO spanned more than seven months and were part of conversations between young Republican leaders in New York, Kansas, Arizona and Vermont.

According to a Politico report published Tuesday, members of a Telegram chat group titled “Restorer War Room” called black people “monkeys” and “watermelon people.” In the chats, they also discussed putting political rivals in gas chambers and sexually assaulting opponents, Politico reported.

According to the report, the chats also contained racial comments and allegedly said the rape was “epic”.

A White House official told POLITICO that the White House has no connection to the group chat and that hundreds of groups have asked the White House for its support.
