Los Angeles (KTLA) – Authorities are investigating how a windshield broke on a United Airlines flight from Denver to Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday, officials confirmed to Nexstar’s KTLA on Sunday.
A United Airlines representative said, “On Thursday, United Flight 1093 landed safely in Salt Lake City to repair damage to its multilayer windshield.” “We arranged for another aircraft to fly customers to Los Angeles later that day and our maintenance team is working to return the aircraft to service.”
United said there were approximately 134 customers and six crew members on board the Boeing 737 Max 8 at the time.
The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed its investigation on Sunday, write on x That the “broken windscreen of the Boeing 737-8” is being “sent to NTSB laboratories for investigation.”
Operating as United Flight 1093 from DEN to LAX, the airplane safely diverted to SLC, the NTSB said, adding that it was also “collecting radar, weather, flight recorder data.”
Although officials did not share or respond to KTLA’s questions about whether anyone was injured when the windscreen was shattered, photos shared with KTLA showed a pilot in the cockpit of the damaged plane covered in blood or with bruises on his forearms. Photographs of the aircraft’s exterior show a completely shattered windshield, with visible damage to the upper right corner.
Online users who provided photos They said they obtained the footage directly from people at the scene, but KTLA is still working to independently verify this information.
United said the aircraft’s windshields are designed to function safely in the event any layer is damaged.
