North Carolina He intends to hire former longtime NBA coach Michael Malone as the school’s next basketball coach, sources told ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Malone spent the first 10 seasons as head coach. Nuggets and led Denver to the only NBA championship in franchise history in 2023. He was fired last April and joined ESPN as an analyst just a month later.
Malone replaces Hubert Davis, who was fired by UNC after the Tar Heels’ first-round loss to VCU in the NCAA Tournament last month.
