For some time, I am trying to find out that Zoharan Mamdani reminds me.
A self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist, Mamdani won the Democratic Mayorl Primary in New York City, was running on a platform that would make Carl Marx beam proudly.
Was this Fidel Castro that he brought to mind-Samashiwadi-Communist who once converted Cuba’s Holocaic economy into a caution story? Or maybe Hugo Chavez – The man whose brand of socialism sent Venezuela’s economy from a rock?
Even Marx briefly crossed my mind. In 2021, in the address of Mamdani to the young democratic socialists of America Actually said This was “a qualified” final goal “to seize the means of production.
But now that he is running a gun to become the mayor of New York City, Mammadani has easily supported with revolutionary rhetoric – realizing, perhaps, that such a thing can be a difficult sales, even in New York’s People’s Republic.
Mamdani wants to put money that there is no list of laundry of socialist pet projects in the city-Mukti bus ride, subsidized food from government-operated grocery stores, rental controls covering about half an apartment in the city. You know, normal suspect in progressive wisdom.
And then it hit me: Zoharan Mamdani reminds me of President Trump.
Yes, that Trump – the one who called Mamdani a “total walnut job”. But what can possibly be usually in socialists like capitalist and mamdani like Trump, do you ask properly? Stay with me for a second.
For the beginning, Mamdani is tapping the same dissatisfaction Trump on the way to the White House. Both appeal to voters who are ill and are tired of falling back. Both of them understand the intestine to see that there is a difference in food, rent and increasing cost of plain life. Both present themselves as outsiders who “get” it when no one else does it.
And both media rely on ecosystems that strengthen their followers’ beliefs. For Mamdani, it is a friendly social media and MSNBC. For Trump, this is true social and Fox news.
Neither does anyone feel worried about spending money from a distance. Mammadani wants the bill to put the bill for his progressive vision in New Yorkers “Rich, White Neberhoods”. And if you consider a Democrat, Trump’s economic policies have shifted the burden on the middle class, while the richest Americans cruise with barely a dent in their purse. If you believe a Democrat, it is.
Trump is still based in the brightness of its latest legislative “victory”-his so-called “large, beautiful bill” that is estimated to jack national debt from $ 3 to $ 5 trillion in the next decade. And very soon, we will spend more for our loan service, as we spend on the entire Defense Department.
To be fair, both sides have been acting like an alcoholic sailors in a race for years for years. But as a perspective of midnight, Republican may want to think twice before playing the “fiscal responsibility” card. Trump and the company are not driving tight ships at all, either.
If Mammadani wins in November, reality is going to punch the city of New York in the mouth. Because eventually – Margaret Thatcher said that this is best – socialists get out of the money of others.
As for Trump? Who knows whether his “big, beautiful bill” will make America rich and strong or poor and weak. But one thing is sure: When voters do not rely on installation, they will look out for them, they will take a flying on the outsider.
So Mamdani won. Trump won. And why this is, whether it likes or not, capitalist and socialists are normally much more than any person – or will ever accept it.
