David Kaf – Known for his role as keyboardist Viv Savage in the iconic film, “This is a spinal tap,” has died.
Kaf’s band, “Mutual of Almeda Wild Kingdom”, made an announcement on Facebook, saying that he died peacefully in his sleep, but no cause of death was given.
The hard rock group said that they were destroyed by the death of Kaf, explaining that he was kind, quick-and-Buddha and would always smile to the people.
Kaf (Real Nam David Kafneti) started his music career from 1969 to 1975 as a leading member of the British Rock Band, “Rare Bird”. During this time, the group released five studio albums and their solo, “Simpathy, rocket the chart and sold a million million cops worldwide.
Then Kaf got his big break in 1984, Rob Rainer directed the mockumentry, “This is a spinal tap,” when he was cast as Viv Savez, who played the keyboard in the fake English rock band.
His character had some memorable lines in the film, such as “quite exciting, this computer magic!” And “a good time … all the time.”
Even though “Spinal Tap” was a fictional band, Kaf and other actors played some live shows through the first year of the film, even performed on “Saturday Night Live”. But then Kaf left the band by the end of the year and never looked back, cutting all the relationships.
Kaf was 79.
