TGL best moments: Boston Common earns first win in team history

The TGL action continued Friday night as Los Angeles Golf Club faced Boston Common Golf at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

After going winless during the inaugural TGL season in 2025, Boston Common earned its first win in team history to start the 2026 season, defeating Los Angeles 7–5 in consecutive matches.

Los Angeles did not hold the lead for long, as McIlroy hit a perfect shot from 92 yards out, leaving the ball just 9 feet from the hole. After Rose missed a shot, LAGC disallowed the hammer throw, giving Boston the point on the hole and tying the match at 1–1.

Thegala enters TGL for Los Angeles

The crowd erupts after Sahith Theegala joins in on Hole 4 for the Los Angeles Golf Club at the TGL.

Theegala pressed on to Boston Common on hole 4 and hit an impressive shot from more than 70 feet. The shot put Los Angeles in position to extend its lead, so the team threw the hammer to make the hole worth two points.


Thorbjornsen answers

Thorbjornsen responded to Thegala with a clutch shot on hole 4, hitting a putt to tie the hole and keep LA’s lead at 2–1.


Boston regains the lead on hole 12

The duel between Theegala and Thorbjornsson continued in the singles portion of the match as the two faced each other on hole 12. Thorbjornsen rose to the occasion again, making a 17-foot putt to give Boston Common a 6-5 lead.

Michael Thorbjornsson wins Boston’s first match in TGL

Michael Thorbjornsson’s birdie on the final hole gave Boston Common its first TGL win.

With a chance to seal the win for his hometown team, Boston native Thorbjornsson drilled a 15-footer to give Boston a 7–5 victory.
