The subject is, of course, alternative uniform. The best best college football has become the favorite staple of the Gir Calendar for football fans. Just as, however, has been re -charged for the history dustbin (or at least one campus storage closet). A vaunted something has increased to another high level: Panth classic.
With the 2025 college football season approaching, we decided to run through the wider catalog of alternative uniform offerings in the game since 2000 and to determine some of the most memorable through the pars through all – for better or worse.
We broke our exaggerated list into several categories – three comprehensive, three specifics, several enrollment in each, and six special awards. Some of these categories reward beauty beauty. Prefer more plain zainness.

A major element of college football is representing a school hometown or home state. These three schools went upstairs and far away to complete that mission, including the flag of their state into their alternative uniforms. Beauty results were diverse.

Reference for uniform also matters. Almost all alternative uniforms represent or respect something, but some threads have particularly special objectives. Both these opponents have distinguished themselves in the backstory category.
Boston college eagles: The Red Bundana Series
Eagles have donated a red bandana pattern once a year since 2014 and the “Wales” nameplate uniform for Wales. The uniform pays tribute to Wales Crowehar, a Boston College alum, who died to save his life in 11 attacks in 11 attacks wearing a red bandana.
UAB Blazers: The Children’s Harbor Series
Since 2016, a tradition, UAB, has worn special jersey for selective sports as part of partnership with a service center for seriously sick children and their families in Birmingham, Alabama. The children of blazors have the names of patients on the back in place of those players in the Harbor Jersey.
The worst trend to catch anytime
Block letter jersey
A very brief but still unfortunate tenure in the Pantians of alternative uniform history was the specialty of the block letter logo and the center in the early 2010. One of the mixed disadvantages can be an alternative uniform hit, they used to run gutlets.
Changing aesthetics for teams jersey with classic traditional threads? check. Undilady design without grounding in a school history or tradition? check. Creating a strange on-screen viewing experience? check. Enjoyed, they were never outside some of the ten-off-offs.

Undoubtedly the most vigorous equal-productive school, duck excluded more similar combinations in a season than some programs in a decade. Instead of trying to choose in which categories they have to slot them – because they have produced enough memorable combinations to join every option, in fact – we are only giving Duck a Lifetime Achievement Award, showing a small palette of their range here.

Of course, there is not a tonne matchup producing alternative uniform matchup on an annual basis. Or anyone, for that case. Virginia Tech vs Georgia Tech, 2007
It was perfect to finish this piece with a “optional” uniform, while not much intentionally, it was certainly memorable. On November 1, 2007, Virginia Tech played a routine road game against Georgia Tech. There was just one issue – some Hokies jersey went missing. As a result, four Virginia Tech players were to play with only extra uniforms on the hand: the yellow jacket road jersey, with new names, was black out at the back and “Georgia Tech”.
