Spotify rolls out group chats

After launching a facility to send messages Last August, Spotify is now introducing group chat. company announced This week users can now share podcasts, playlists and audiobooks with up to 10 people they’re listening to.

You can only start a chat with someone you’ve previously shared content with. For example, if you have a collaborative playlist with someone or you’ve attended a Jam or Blend together, you can start a conversation with them.

The move comes as Spotify continues to invest in building out its streaming app more social. Over the years, the company has gradually added social elements, including features like comments on podcasts and the ability to follow someone and see what they listen to.

Spotify previously mentioned that users should continue to share content outside the app, as its messaging feature complements it.

Messages are encrypted at rest and in transit. However, they are not protected by end-to-end encryption.
