Space industry companies on Monday urged the Congress to not cut the money to the Space Commerce (OSC) office in several letters.
“We today write on behalf of more than 450 American location, satellites, and defense companies, which urge the sub -committee on commerce, justice and science, which provides sufficient funds for the Space Commerce (OSC) office in the financial year 2026 Appropriation Bill – especially $ 65M, Monday OSC,” Signed by Many read space-oriented organizations.
“We also urge the subcommittee to ensure the continuous execution of funds appointed to OSC in the fiscal year 2025,” Letters are going on.
As OSC websiteIt is “the major unit for space commerce policy activities within the Department of Commerce” and the office “mission is to promote conditions for economic development and technological progress of the US commercial space industry.”
The letters were addressed to the sensor.
Monday’s letters stated, “One of the most important functions of OSC is to provide space traffic coordination assistance to American satellite operators, similar to the role of federal aviation administration in air traffic control for the US airline industry.
“The US space industry ensures safely operating into a rapid congested space domains that broadbands are available to American people such as broadband internet and weather forecasting.”
