Sources: Raiders hire Seahawks’ Andrew Janocko as OC

Henderson, Nev. — The las vegas raiders hired Seattle Seahawks Quarterbacks coach Andrew Janko was hired as offensive coordinator after meeting with the organization on Sunday, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Janoko will once again join the head coach for the first time Clint Kubiakwith whom he worked in Seattle, new Orleans And minnesota. Janko was also a candidate to succeed Kubiak for the same title in Seattle.

Janko and Kubiak will be tasked with turning around a Raiders offense that was one of the worst in the league in 2025. Under Chip Kelly and interim offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Greg Olson, Las Vegas ranked last in points (14.2), rushing yards per game (77.5) and total yards (245.2), and 26th in red zone efficiency (50%).

Despite Janko being hired, Kubiak said during his introductory press conference that he would handle playcalling duties.

“I know, but I hope you guys know I’ve never called a play by myself,” Kubiak said. “It’s something we do together as a coaching staff. We plan together. We communicate together on game day: quarterback coach, passing game coordinator. [and] run game coordinator; It’s a group effort.”

The Raiders have the top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and are expected to select the Indiana quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Fernando MendozaKubiak and Janoko are overseeing its development.

Smith is under contract through 2028, so the coaches and front office will have to come together to determine the best path for the veteran signal-caller. If Smith is released this offseason, he will have a dead cap hit of $18.5 million.

Kubiak’s working relationship with Janoko dates back to when he became the offensive coordinator for the Vikings from 2019 to 2021 as quarterbacks coach. At Minnesota, Janko served in several assistant positions such as assistant offensive line coach, wide receivers coach, and quarterbacks coach.

Janko spent two seasons as quarterbacks coach. Chicago Bears Kubiak was the offensive coordinator before serving in the same role for the Saints in 2024. They eventually followed Kubiak to Seattle in 2025 to help defeat the Seahawks new England Patriots In Super Bowl LX.

Janocco is added to the coaching staff after the Raiders hired assistant head coach Mike McCoy and promoted defensive line coach/run game coordinator Rob Leonard to defensive coordinator.
