John Hinckley Jr.the man who tried to murder Ronald Reaganconvinced that this is the reason jodie foster Is sexually attracted to other women.
John told TMZ that he has a theory that his failed attempt to assassinate Reagan in 1981 traumatized Jody to such an extent that she turned away from men and became a lesbian. He believes Jodie’s trauma was also caused by her public attraction to him leading to a murder attempt.
He says Jody had been dating men in the early 1980s and became a lesbian after attempting to shoot Reagan. Jodie first came out publicly as gay during the 2013 Golden Globes Awards. John says this is the first time he has publicly revealed this theory while promoting his new memoir, “John Hinckley Jr.: Who I Really Am.”
John says he had been infatuated with Jodie since 1976, when he saw her in the movie “Taxi Driver”… and while she was attending Yale University, he went to the college registrar’s office and got her dorm number and phone number, and called her and left poems under her door.
He says he never asked Jody out on a date because he wasn’t interested… and in his depression, confusion, and obsession, he thought he could “impress Jody by assassinating the President.”
John says he got caught up in the pairing and “Taxi Driver”… and he saw himself in the movie as Travis Bickle, the character who wants to shoot a presidential candidate after being rejected by his girlfriend.
In the film, Travis doesn’t shoot the candidate… instead, he ends up as a local hero for killing people exploiting Jody’s character, Iris, a young prostitute… and his love interest is impressed.
John tried to recreate it in real life… and says he thought if he shot Reagan, he could win over Jody… so he took a bus from Los Angeles to Washington, DC in March 1981 on a mission to assassinate Reagan.
He says he sold two .38 caliber guns to pay for his bus tickets and D.C. lodging… and that he went to the Hilton Hotel, where Reagan was giving a speech, armed with a .22 caliber revolver.
John was out in the crowd when Reagan and his crew arrived… and he thought Reagan was waving at him, which startled him, before he waved back.
He says he waited for Reagan to leave after the speech… and when RR passed him, he waved his revolver and fired six shots within a few seconds… wounding Reagan, police officer Thomas Delahantysecret service agent Tim McCarthy and White House Press Secretary james brady.
John says he thought he would be killed by the Secret Service… but the crowd pounced on him, jumping on him and beating him until the SS captured him and took him to prison.
He was found not guilty by reason of insanity and sent to a mental institution for over 30 years… and John tells us the jury got the verdict right.
John says he’s been taking anti-depressants for several years… and, currently, he’s voluntarily taking Zoloft and Risperdal for anxiety.
We reached out to Jody’s camp…he declined to comment.
