New research from the University of Queensland has found that new strategies may be needed to protect babies over six months of age from the highly contagious respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV. The study examined 18,683 cases of RSV in Queensland children under 2 years of age between 2022 and 2023, finding particularly high rates of the virus in children aged 0-15 months. The findings have been published in the journal BMC Public Health.
