House and Senate Republicans continue to trip over themselves as they struggle to end the longest federal shutdown in U.S. history. Inside the House, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and his leadership team have not found a formula for taming their rebellious conservative wing. Between the houses, there have been disagreements between Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.).
