President Trump again attacked the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by a federal Border Patrol agent in Minnesota, saying his administration is looking into the matter, while also criticizing Pretti for carrying a “very powerful, fully loaded” gun.
On Sunday, Trump called Wall Street Journal reporter Josh Dawsey and told him that federal investigators were “reviewing everything” regarding Preeti’s murder before making a final decision. When Dawsey asked Trump whether the Border Patrol agent who shot Preeti was right, the president dodged the question.

Trump then targeted Preeti, saying, “I don’t like it when someone goes to a protest and has a very powerful, fully loaded gun and two magazines full of bullets. That doesn’t look good either.”
As you know, Preeti was shot by a Border Patrol agent on a street in Minneapolis on Saturday. Federal officials defended the agent, claiming that he shot the 37-year-old intensive care nurse – who was armed with a pistol – because he feared for his life.
But multiple videos taken by witnesses have surfaced on social media that completely contradict federal officials’ claims.
During his interview with the WSJ, Trump addressed whether immigration enforcement officers would ever leave Minneapolis — and the commander-in-chief seemed open to the idea. He said that at some point “we will be gone”, and also congratulated the agents for the “phenomenal job” they had done.
Right after Saturday’s shooting, Trump appeared on Truth Social blaming Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for Preeti’s death. The 47’s reasoning was that Walz and Frey called the local police, leaving federal agents vulnerable to taking matters into their own hands, which led to Preeti’s shooting.
