Chester, Penn. , United States of America Men’s national team coach Mauricio Pochettino reiterated his stance that “no one can feel safe” when it comes to making a World Cup roster and that current squad players deserve to be there.
Pochettino said his stance also applies to American stars AC Milan attacker Christian Pulisic as well as bournemouth midfielder tyler adamsBoth are injured and unavailable for the friendly matches against paraguaya on Saturday and uruguay three days later.
Pulisic has recently recovered from a hamstring injury suffered last month Australia Pochettino called it an “unfortunate situation” during a play-through. are also absent juventus, Weston McKenney, crystal Palace‘S chris richards And bayer leverkusen‘S malik tillmanBut Pochettino expressed confidence in the current 24-player list,

“For me, these are the players who deserve to be here today and these are the players we want to see, these are the players who are our choice, our selection,” he said. “And then no one can feel safe or no one can feel that this is going to happen [on the roster]Even the names you say: Pulisic or Tyler Adams. I think the Federation is bigger than those names [are in] National team.”
Pochettino said: “It’s a great opportunity at this moment to make a decision to select another player to replace another player. That player has to come forward and say, ‘Yes, we also have the opportunity to be part of the roster for the next World Cup.'”
As for Pulisic, Pochettino regretted the injury but said the most important aspect is the player’s health when the roster is announced in May.
,[Pulisic] He was absolutely fine when he played against Australia, but this happened and we will see what happened,” he said. “The most important thing is that on the day we are going to start the World Cup, all the players come fit and in very good condition on the day we are going to start the World Cup because I need to prepare the roster.
American Guard tim ream Noted that the selection of the final World Cup roster is happening faster than it should be. According to his estimate, the US team has just 10 training sessions before the roster for the World Cup is announced. It puts the timeline into a different perspective.
“When you talk about length of time, number of days, probably not [close]But when you talk about the number of games, the number of training sessions, the number of camps, [the World Cup] Knocking on our door.”
Ream said he believes the absence does not change much in terms of what the U.S. hopes to accomplish in the upcoming friendlies as well as the practices that precede them.
“Every player has their own goals in mind, but those goals have to fit with what Mauricio wants and what the staff wants, and there are opportunities for people to come in and impress and potentially help their case to be part of a team that goes to the World Cup,” he said. “And the same situation exists for people who are here or have been here.
“Everyone is in the same boat. You have to continue to earn your spot and continue to take advantage of opportunities.”
Ream was asked if he saw frustration with the way American players were trained. He said it is a matter of more intense focus.
“There’s a little more intensity in training. There’s intensity, there’s more aggression,” he said. “Guys are trying everything they can to be a part of the team, and I think as we’ve gotten closer, you see that more, and that’s a good thing.
“People are desperate to be part of the group and be part of the team and be part of the World Cup on home soil.”
