Santa Clara, California– new England Patriots quarterback drake may He said he received a pain-killing injection for his injured right shoulder in front of the team lost 29-13 till Seattle Seahawks Sunday night in Super Bowl LX.
An emotional Maye was asked after the game how his shoulder was feeling, and he said, “I elevated it, so it didn’t feel much. It was good to go and everything felt fine.”
It seemed as if the injury was affecting my mother. He turned the ball over three times, including a strip sack late in the third quarter, which the Seahawks quickly turned into a touchdown for a 19–0 lead and they went on to win. He then threw two interceptions in the fourth quarter, one of which was returned 45 yards for a touchdown.
The Patriots’ offense was stifled by the Seahawks’ defense for most of the first three quarters, with Mays’ defense falling short at times. Mays and company found some rhythm in the fourth quarter that helped bolster his final stat line – 27 of 43 for 295 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
After the AFC Championship Game, Mayes was limited in one practice when he landed on his right shoulder on a 13-yard run late in the third quarter and then sat out another. But he said he felt he took a turn when he arrived in California on Feb. 1 and practiced fully in the Patriots’ three workouts before the game. Mays said Thursday he’s feeling great, although per NFL rules, he was still listed on the injury report last week.
The Patriots’ offense finished the regular season third in the NFL in total yards (397.4 average), but were never able to hold their own in the playoffs against some of the league’s top-rated defenses. Mays was asked if he felt the shoulder limited him.
“I guess it’s hard to say. I felt really good being there,” he said. “I won’t hurt the team by my absence. Just didn’t play the game tonight.”
Mays was also sacked six times, which was partly a result of the safety breakdown. rookie left tackle Will Campbell Struggled leaving two sacks. According to Next Gen Stats, Campbell – the No. 4 pick in last April’s draft – gave up 14 pressures, the most by any NFL player this season.
“Definitely didn’t work out very well. It hurts,” starting with the center. garrett bradbury Talked about overall security. “Drake is the face of this franchise. He’s the leader of this team. I think the entire locker room knows that.”
NFL Coach of the Year Mike Vrabel took a bigger picture of the season, which included a 14–3 record and a surprise appearance in the Super Bowl.
“I’m proud of what they did. I’m just as disappointed as they are,” he said. “I reminded them that we are 307 days into a long, successful relationship and program. And it’s OK to be disappointed. We have to be disappointed and upset together.
“And as I always do, I tell them I appreciate them. I’m grateful. I’m grateful that I got the chance to coach them. And we don’t want that to be a part of our identity as not being the lead runner. And so again, like every year, someone is going to lose this game. And we have to remember what that feels like and make sure that’s not repeated.”
Mays choked up at times when thinking about the game and his second NFL season.
“It hurts. It definitely hurts. They played better than us tonight,” he said. “They deserved to win that game. For the whole team and for me, what a journey it’s been for us. I love this team and those guys in the locker room. We left everything on the field and just fell behind. We didn’t play our best, and that’s what happens. … It’s going to sting for a while, but you sign up for it.”
Mays said he is looking forward to the team’s second season under Vrabel.
May said, “He was a heartthrob, no doubt about it. He was a big reason for us being here. He’s always been the same and I look forward to my relationship with him for a long time.” “He’s a great guy and a helluva football coach.”
