Foxborough, Mass. , new England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore According to court documents, he has been charged with misdemeanor assault and battery on a household/family member.
According to the Attleboro (Massachusetts) District Court, the charges stem from an alleged incident on August 8 and were filed on December 16. Arraignment is scheduled for February 3.
In a statement Wednesday, the Patriots said they were “made aware of the incident at the time of the incident and notified the NFL in a timely manner.”
“This matter is part of the ongoing legal process,” the team said. “We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have done over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league.”
According to charging documents obtained by ABC, a woman who was in a relationship with Barmore alleged that he became angry with her over the temperature of the air conditioning in his bedroom and that they also argued over food. According to court documents, the woman told police that Barmore knocked her phone out of her hand as she was trying to leave the house.
Charging documents say the woman “tried to open the door and scream for help, but Christian grabbed her before she could and threw her to the floor.” She said Barmore grabbed her by the shirt “in the neck area” when she tried to get up but eventually let go.
“We are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that no criminal conduct occurred,” Barmore’s attorney, David Meyer, said in a statement. “Based on the facts and the law, we hope this individual matter will be resolved in the near future and both parties will move forward together.”

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel told reporters that Barmore was not with the team on Wednesday due to illness.
The charges against Barmore come a day after Patriots wide receiver stefon diggs He faces felony charges of strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of assault in an alleged incident Dec. 2.
As part of a statement regarding the allegations against Diggs, the Patriots said Tuesday: “Stephon has informed the organization that he categorically denies the allegations. We support Stephon.”
Both Diggs and Barmore are being represented by attorney David Meyer, who has not commented on the charges against the defensive tackle.
