The VCs who backed OpenEvidence clearly aren’t worried OpenAI and Anthropic New health information products.
startup on wednesday announced It raised an additional $250 million in Series D funding at a valuation of $12 billion, co-led by Thrive Capital and DST.
This is double its previous raise in October: $200 million $6 billion led by GV. The company says it has now raised a total of $700 million from Sequoia, Nvidia, Kleiner Perkins, Blackstone, Bond, Craft Ventures, Mayo Clinic and other backers.
OpenEvidence is an AI-powered medical information platform, similar to WebMD for the previous Internet generation, but designed for doctors. This puts it somewhat in competition Anthropix Cloud for Healthcarewhich is for patients, payers, and providers, while Chatgpt’s new health product Is more targeted at consumers.
The company says the free, ad-supported platform provided 18 million clinical consultations from verified health professionals in the US in December alone. This compares with about 3 million searches per month a year ago. It also said its revenue had exceeded $100 million.
