NYC shooter targeted NFL headquarters, claimed to have CTE

Officials said on Tuesday that a gunman who killed four people in the Manhattan office building was trying to target NFL’s headquarters before killing himself before killing him, but took the wrong lift.

Investigators believe that 27 -year -old Las Vegas Casino activist Shane Tamura, on Monday, was trying to go to NFL offices after shooting in the building lobby, but mistakenly entered the wrong set of lift banks, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in an interview.

Four people were killed, including New York City police officer Didarul Islam. Police said Tamura, which used to play high school football in California almost a decade ago, but NFL never had a history of mental illness.

A three-pest note found in the Tamura wallet suggested that he had a complaint on a claim against NFL that he was suffering from old painful encephalopathy. Dilated brain disease has been linked to consulation and other head trauma in contact games such as football, but it can be diagnosed only after someone dies.

In the note, Tamura repeatedly said that he was sorry and asked that according to the police department, his brain should be studied for CTE. The note also referred to former NFL player Terry Long, who was detected CTE, and the way Long killed himself in 2005. The note accused NFL of hiding the hazards of the players for benefits.

The New York Post reported on Tuesday that the note has also mentioned “League of Daniel” about a PBS documentary at NFL, and “Fenru Brothers”, a clear reference for ESPN reporters, Mark Fenru-Vada and Steve Fenru, who wrote a book released with the documentary. It has also mentioned several major doctors who have studied associations.

NFL has long denied links between football and CTE, but it accepted the connection before the Congress in 2016 testimony and paid more than $ 1.4 billion to retired players to settle claims related to claims.

Asked if Tamura would be tested for CTE, Adams told CNN that the city’s medical examiner would determine.

In response to ESPN, the office of the medical examiner said: “The medical examiner is investigating and will share the cause and method of death when available. An examination of the brain (neuropathology) is part of the full corpse process.”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodll called shooting “an inexplicable work of violence in our building”, saying that he was deeply grateful to law enforcement officers who responded and the officers who were protecting others.

Goodll told the employees in a memorandum that a league employee was seriously injured in the attack and was admitted to the hospital in a stable position.

Goodll said that the league offices would be “increased security appearance” in the coming days and weeks. “He later said that the employees located in New York should work from” at least “from August 8 and” will be closed during this time “that we confirm that as long as we” [the building] We are ready to return. ,

“Each of you is a valuable member of the NFL family,” said Goodll. “We will meet together through it.”

Shooting took place at 345 Park Avenue, one of the country’s most recognized roads, and is just blocks from the Grand Central Terminal and Rockfeller Center. It is also less than 15 minutes of walking, from where United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed last December, prosecutors say that the corporate was angry at greed.

New York Giants Coach Brian Dabol and Atlanta Falcons Coach Rahm Morris opened his comment by reference to shooting.

“You all saw what happened in 345 parks – sad,” Dabol said, who said there was no conversation with the legendary players or employees about their situation.

“Just start to address the sensitive violence in New York,” Morris said. “Just include our thoughts and prayers, including a single one of our.”

Cenus city chief Coach Andy Reid said that the views of him and his employees go out for the affected people.

Reid said, “People in the league office had to go through that of that.” “This is a bad deal. We have to try to keep peace here. There is a lot in it.”

In Minnesota, Vikings Coach Kevin O’Conel expressed the organization sympathy for the victims and their families and said that the security personnel of the team are ready.

“I hope we are completely safe, and our people always handle things so well,” O’Conel said. “And we hope that we are hosting our fans to keep our campus in this way.”

New Orleans Saints Coach Kalen Moore echoed those sentiments and said that there was no discussion to increase the security of the team till Tuesday.

“The organization spends a lot of time to keep itself in the safest, best position.” “Surely we feel that we have the best available here, so we will continue to evaluate it.”

Sanyasi lineback Peat werner It was added that he rely on NFL security and “is completely comfortable in the system.”

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he knew that area of Manhattan well.

Trump posted on social media, “I am confident that to get to the bottom of such a terrible violence to do such a sensitive work.

Commissioner of Police Jessica Tish said the investigators found that Tamura, who has done security work in Horsasho Las Vegas, left across the country in the last few days and made his way to New York City just before the shooting.

Tish said on Tuesday that investigators planned to question a person who supplied parts for the gun used in the attack. According to TISCH, the AR-15-style rifle was assembled with parts, including a low receiver, purchased by a colleague.

The police have located the associate and will interrogate him about the purchase.

The monitoring video showed Gunman out of a double-park BMW with a rifle on Monday evening, then marched in a plaza and in a skyscraper, which is also home to the investment firm Blackstone and other companies.

Tamura then sprayed the lobby with bullets, killed Islam, who was away from police duty and a corporate security details were working, and killing a woman who tried to take the cover, said Tish. The commissioner said that next time the Elevator made his way in the bank, shooting a guard at a security desk and shooting another person in the lobby.

Adams said in a TV interview, “He first moved to the officer’s back and then turned to his right, and looked at him and discharged several rounds.”

According to Jeff Darlington of ESPN, NFL employees were asked to shelter at that time. The NFL office is at fifth place through the eighth floor of the 44-floor building.

Tamura took a lift in the company’s 33rd floor offices, which owns the building, Rudin management, and shot and shot a person on that floor. He then shot and killed himself, the commissioner said.

Blackstone confirmed that one of its employees, Wesley Lepater, real estate executive Wesley Lepater, was among those killed. According to a local labor union, security officer Alnd Etin also died.

Blackstone said in a statement, “The words cannot express the devastation we felt.” “Wesley was a favorite member of the Blackstone family and he would miss badly. She was luxurious, emotional, warm, generous and deeply honored within our firm and beyond.”

Tish said in a news conference that Islam was a 36 -year -old immigrant from Bangladesh, who worked as a police officer in New York City. His body was wrapped in the NYPD flag as he was taken from the hospital to an ambulance, in which fellow officers were standing in mind.

“He was working that we had asked for him to do. He put himself in the way of damage. He gave a final sacrifice,” Tish said. “He died as if he lived: a hero.”

Adams said that a challenge of investigation is that Tamura reached New York shortly before shooting, which led to some clues in the area.

Adams said, “We are going to communicate with federal and state partners in Las Vegas to see their social media pages, anything that is in their house, so that we can continue the investigation together,” said Adams.
