NYC mayor vows to hold fighters in UFC 322 brawl accountable

New York City Mayor Eric Adams intends to legally address the controversy that occurred ufc 322 Inside Madison Square Garden earlier this month.

The UFC quickly moves on from “backstage” altercations between athletes, but Adams made it clear that the city itself will be looking into what happened.

“These attacks at Madison Square Garden are completely unacceptable,” Adams said on the X. “The NYPD is already conducting a thorough investigation, and all those responsible will be held accountable.”

At the UFC 322 postfight news conference on November 15, UFC CEO Dana White said the promotion was imposing a permanent “ban” on Dennis for future UFC events. Dennis has a history of public feuds and posted derogatory comments and photos online about Makhachev in the days leading up to UFC 322 – some of which were fake.

Several videos showed Makhachev’s teammates Magomed ‘Chanko’ Zainukov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov The incident involved him punching Dennis in the back of the head. Dennis was immediately escorted off the field by security personnel. Makhachev’s teammates were also evacuated and watched his world title performance off-site. The feud between Dennis and Makhachev’s team dates back to 2017, when McGregor challenged Makhachev’s mentor, Khabib NurmagomedovFor the UFC Lightweight Championship.

“When you talk about someone for the last five years, when you meet them, you have to answer for what you said,” Makhachev said on the night of the fight.
