NATO-Ukraine: A mutual investment in Euro-Atlantic security

Shortly after the NATO summit in the Hague, Ukraine faced one of the largest Russian aerial attacks targeting Kiev – a cruel reminder of the ongoing war and immediate need for strong defense.

In this context, President Volodmi Zelansky had an important and creative conversation with President Trump about the latest frontline development, including Russian missile terror and increased air defense opportunities. They agreed to work jointly on strengthening the sky and defense industrial cooperation of Ukraine, especially in drones and important technologies. Trump was well informed and vigilant, and both sides confirmed their commitment to a equitable and permanent peace.

Each NATO summit is an important indicator for Ukraine how well the alliance is suited to new challenges and continues to serve as the most effective security guarantee for European countries. This is also an indicator of how much NATO members see Ukraine as “their own” and understand that, such as the alliance invests in the safety and defense of Ukraine, we invest in euro-nallantic security and defense. In short, it is a mutual investment in euro-nallantic security.

Traditionally, each coalition summit is also an indicator of NATO’s will, keeping in mind Russia’s fabricated concerns on the growth policy of NATO’s coalition.

Expectations for the NATO summit in Hague were minor – both members within the states and in partner countries like Ukraine. Nevertheless, it injected new energy into transatlantic relations. This reinforced the alliance, completely failed to remove the complete failure of Russia’s plans. Most of this success is due to the ability to find common land with various leaders of General Secretary Mark Rutte and acts as a reliable bridge between Europe and US Rutte, which has emerged as an integrated shape as the required aligning at this significant turn.

As a result, the summit gave clear answers to all major questions. First of all, the prophecies by those who claimed that Trump would be removed from NATO soon after assuming the position of Trump. Clearly America’s commitment to Article Five confirms In the Washington Treaty, Trump confirmed the American role as the leader of the coalition. Some may find their approach too hard to their approach, but desperate time calls for desperate measures. Europe’s demand to take more care of its safety, top, is a matter of general knowledge.

Despite what the suspiciousists say, Article remains five functional. Neither the Soviet Union nor Russia has ever dared to test it, due to which the claim of its ineffectiveness is wrong. What we can confirm is that there is only a time in the history of NATO that Article five has been implemented, in response to September 11, 2001, attack on America – not in response to any Soviet or Russian attack on a member of the coalition.

Second, the goal of making NATO “strong, fair and more deadly” through commitment to increase defense spending up to 5 percent is not only to take more responsibility for European NATO members. It also represents a long-awaited recognition of Ukraine as an integral part of Euro-Alantic security. It is clear Summit announcementWhich continued in the new defense target of the member states for Ukraine.

This step indicates the onset of a new security mentality within the alliance – a slow but growing realization that supporting Ukraine is a moral duty not only in Europe since World War II, but also a significant security interest for member states of the coalition, especially in Europe.

Of course, the new defense spending of NATO countries did not overcome our immediate defense needs from the agenda, embedding long-term support for Ukraine in schemes-especially about additional air defense systems. Here, it is worth highlighting a very hot meeting between Presidents Zelanski and Trump. Although it focused on joint efforts for peace, the issue of protecting Ukrainian cities from Russia’s terrorist drones and missile strikes was separated separately.

It is important to call things in his name. Prolonged drone terror against Ukrainian is mainly the result of close collaboration between Tehran and Moscow established at the beginning of a large scale. As Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has correctly mentioned, the determination shown towards Iran should also be implemented in Russia.

Third, Russia’s Brezen and the world constantly try to explain that Ukraine’s NATO aspirations “forced” to attack ” – and that once Ukraine leaves this goal, Russia will magically creative and appropriate – once again failed. In NATO capitals, there is a growing understanding that Russia’s ultimate goal in its war against Ukraine is not to eliminate Ukraine’s ambitions, but to destroy Ukraine as a state and nation and restore the Russian Empire in a new form. In other words, Putin is not the ultimate goal of preventing Ukraine from joining NATO – this is only one tool to achieve it.

Yes, there is still a lot of work to clarify this in every capital, but we are undoubtedly on the right path. This is clear from the fact that NATO has not revised any of its previous positions on Ukraine’s future membership. Although these yogas were not repeated in communu, perhaps we should start explaining this lapse as NATO Accepting the untouchability of the Euro-Alantic path of NATO Ukraine-as a self-evident truth that no longer needs continuous revaluation in every coalition statement.

Of course, the answers provided in the Hague are not final. NATO optimization continues for the new Euro-Alantic reality. Despite the confirmation of American commitment to Article Five, Europe must take more responsibility, show more initiatives, and actually start to build its defense abilities. Doing this with Ukraine – whose armed forces are distinguished by a modern war with Russia, as well as with their dynamic defense industry and technology – will make the process significantly easier and faster.

Even without being a member of NATO and without the participation of NATO soldiers, Ukraine is long independently implementing NATO’s strategic concept of neutralizing Russia as the “most important and direct threat” to Russia.

“You are among friends” – This phrase was used more than once in Hague to welcome Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelancesi. The results of the Hague Summit will be welcomed when the Ukrainian president will be welcomed when you are paved the way for a day.

Andry Yarmak is head of Ukraine’s Chairman’s office and Elona Getman Chutch is the head of Ukraine’s mission, which is for nato-design.
