According to a plan on Tuesday evening, the federal government will be largely open due to the closure of the federal government.
“Park Road, Lookout, Trails, and Open-Air Memorials will usually be accessible to visitors,” a shutdown contingency saysPlan For National Park Service (NPS).
At the same time, Park Service planned to influence most of its employees. Out of about 14,500 employees, 9,296 will not work.
The plan states that the level of expected staffing will “be held for the amount required for the protection of life, property and public health and safety, and will be based on the notion that the NPS is not operating no park and providing no visible services.”
The scheme also states that the parks collecting fees under the Federal Land Entertainment Enhancement Act will use those fees to provide “basic visitor services”.
This includes maintaining toilets, collecting garbage, maintaining roads and campgrounds, law enforcement and emergency operations.
In 2019, Government Accountability OfficeA Nonpartison Congress’ guard said that the first Trump administration “violated this purpose law during the closure of a partial government, it forced the Federal Land Entertainment Entertainment Act fee for those expenses that would usually charge for the operation of the National Park System (ONPS) appropriation.”
