On Friday, Information Told that Meta was preparing to tear its current AI Org and reorganize it in four new groups. Four days later, the change is made official with an internal memorandum, as mentioned by Bloomberg And the new York TimesChanges were announced by Scale AI founder Alexandra Wang, who joined the Meta as Chief AI Officer in June.
Meta’s new organization for AI will be called Meta Superintendent Labs, or MSL. Centerpiece is a new group called TBD Labs, run by Wang. The group will focus on the foundation model such as the Lama series, with its latest release in April. The other three groups will focus on research, product integration and infrastructure respectively.
Meta has put significant resources in recently reviving its AI organization, in response to concerns that it was being beaten by rivals such as OpenI, Anthropic and Google Dipmind. Mark Zuckerberg is personally involved in recruitment for the new group, copy Bloomberg’s June 1 report,
