Las Vegas – Manny Pacquiao introduced his statuside at MGM Grand Garden Arena by harassing Lehlo Ledwababa for IBF Junior Fedarweight title after 24 years, Philipino sensation tried to create history as the oldest fighter to win the Welterweight Championship at the same place.
But the 46 -year -old Pacquoo decreased in its attempt when his fight with WBC Champion Mario Barios ended in a majority draw on Saturday night. Barios retained its title as a result, and Pacquoos left Las Vegas empty -handed.
“I thought I had won the battle,” said a disintegrated pacquoy. “It was a close fight. He was very difficult.”
Pacquiao was ahead on all three scorecards leading to the 10th round. However, all three judges scored the last three rounds for the Barios, allowing them to retain their title. Results-two judges scored it 114–114 and a judge scored 115–113 for the Bario-13,107 capacity fell into the flat in front of the crowd, most of whom were fans of Paquiao.
Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 kos) ended four years of retirement a month after joining the International Boxing Hall of Fame and quickly began against Barios, which is 16 years old. In the initial stages, a more vintage version of Pacquoos was seen, which is far from the dull version, which lost a decision for Yordenis Ugas in 2021. Boxing’s only eight-Division World Champion launched the crowd to life by launching his trademark crime, darting his left hand with Barius gloves and rolling with rolling.
But Father Time saw his way with Pacquio, as the former senator in the Philippines slowed down from mid -round.
“I need to continue their training to go for a long time in a championship battle,” said Pacquoo, who announced his return to the ring in May after the Senator fell down in his run. “I started late due to the election, but it’s fine. Surely I want a rematch. I want to leave a legacy and make the Philippino feel proud.”
By going into the battle, Barius (29–2–2, 18 kos) lost only to Gevonta Davis and Keith Thurman. However, his previous two outings against Abel Ramos (Dra) and Fabian Maidana (Win) were away from impressive.
Bairios was handed over by Pacquio for his return battle and a title shot due to WBC rules, stating that a former champion could request a title fight after coming out of retirement. Pacquiao almost pulled it, but Barios made its way back in the fight.
“His stamina is crazy,” said Barios. “He is still strong as hell and his time is real. He is still a very strange fighter to try to find out.”
Pacquiao called energy to set his combinations on fire, but was clearly tired in the second half as Barios enough to convince the judges, allowing them to retain their title.
Pacquiao launched 101 (17.5%) out of the 577 panches in 120 in 120 of the Barios in 658 (18.2%), but Pacquoos managed to exclude their opponents from 81–75 into power panches.
Barios said that he would again be interested in sharing the ring with legend.
“I will remat,” said Barios. “Absolutely. It was very big for boxing. I would like to do it again.”
Given that Pacquoi said that he wants to fight again, he could get another attempt to make history. Till then, he can take solitude to prove that he still has.
Pacquiao said, “I hope it is an inspiration for boxers that if you have discipline and hard work then you can still fight at this age.”
