Mo’ne Davis is not done to play baseball.
The League said the former Little League Finome that became the first girl to win at the age of 13 – and in a shutout – Little League World Series, would be one of more than 600 players to try for women’s professional baseball leagues to launch next year.
The 24-year-old Davis, other women’s baseball stars such as Calsey Whitmore, an MLB-Particular League will include the first woman to sign a professional contract, Triaouts, which will be held from 22–25 August in Washington, DC.
According to the Davis League, along with one pitcher, in another base, shortstop and center field, will try as a pitcher. His verdict was first reported by Philadelphia Inquareer.
WPBL is aiming to launch with six teams in 2026 and will be the first American Pro League for women since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, depicted in the classic film “A League of your on,”, dissolved in 1954. Next month’s Triyouts determined 150 players, which would be selected for the league draft in October.
Davis’s rise of stardom came rapidly in 2014 when it distributed 70 mph fastball to Filadelphia’s Tenny Youth Baseball Association during that year’s Little League World Series.
She became a quick inspiration for young and old fans. She appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated, has her jersey displayed in the baseball hall of fame and was named Sports Kid of the Year by Sports Illustrated Kids.
Davis graduated from the University of Hampton in 2023 and commented on ESPN for Little League Games.
