Oklahoma City — Lebron James took an important step towards returning to Los Angeles Lakers when he practiced with the team’s G League affiliate in El Segundo, California on Wednesday.
James has not played this season due to sciatica, a nerve problem in his right lower body.
Lakers coach JJ Redick said James practiced with the South Bay Lakers, which was James’ first practice of the season. Redick tells reporters about practice before the Lakers’ game Oklahoma City On Wednesday night. He said the reports he has received say James looks good.
“He was able to participate in practice,” Redick said. “Just had a little up-and-down with some, like, warmup transition drills and progressed to 5-on-5 in the half-court, and I think got 12 to 15 possessions of live 5-on-5 contact.”
James, who is entering his 23rd NBA season, is the league’s all-time scoring leader.
