KU’s Darryn Peterson ‘good to go’ against Iowa St., Bill Self says

Peterson, the projected No. 1 pick in June’s NBA draft, has missed 11 games this season, most of them because of a hamstring problem.

Peterson, a 6-foot-6 guard, played in the first two games of the season but missed the next seven games. He returned for two games but sat out the overtime period against NC State on December 13 and missed the next two games.

Peterson has played in nine of the last 11 games and missed the Jan. 24 game against Kansas State with an ankle injury. He also played only 20 minutes against BYU and sat out almost the entire second half despite scoring 18 points in the first half.

On Monday, Peterson was initially expected to play, but he did not appear for pregame warmups and was ultimately ruled out.

Despite inconsistent availability, Peterson averaged 20.5 points and 4.2 rebounds, shooting nearly 42% from 3-point range.

Kansas won the first meeting against Iowa State by defeating the Cyclones 84–63 in Lawrence on January 13. That win capped Kansas’ current eight-game winning streak. Peterson had 16 points in that game.
