Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said Sunday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are “doing God’s work” as the agency faces criticism over its tactics.
“I think ICE agents are doing God’s work. They’re doing what the president promised the American people when he ran for the job and was overwhelmingly elected,” Jordan told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.”
“So, I think they’re doing their duty. What’s interesting is the pushback they’re getting in these sanctuary jurisdictions and these ICE-free zones where they’re coming in many times – they’ve sent a detainee to the facility, and they’ll release that person on the streets, release the bad guy on the streets, and not work with ICE at all.”
In the first few months of his second term, President Trump’s administration has taken a heavy-handed crackdown on immigration, using tactics and methods that have been widely criticized by Democrats.
