Johnson on Texas floods: 'We feel just as helpless as everyone else does'

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) On Sunday said that the Congress cannot do much to help the victims of the Texas flood until the supplementary funding requests arrive.

In an interview on Fox News’s “Fox News Sunday”, Anchor Shannon Breame said that the state and federal resources have “put in that area” to help with floods “and asked if anything can be done” to help with a legislative perspective.

“In an instant in this way, we feel that the helpless, just like all the people,” Johnson replied.

He said that he has spoken with the rape chip Roy (R-Texas), whose district was affected by floods, and rape. August Paflugar (R-Texas), whose daughters were participating in a camp which was flooded. Johnson also noted that the rape was taking part in the same camp.

“It touches a lot of families, and we all know that there is prayer at the moment,” Johnson said.

Johnson said that the Congress would “handle” for additional funding after receiving him.

“Every available resource has been deployed. The President, of course, dials this development in moment, as we are,” he said.

“We will handle the supplementary funding requests because they come, but right now they are still trying to rescue and recover, and our hearts go out for all of them,” Johnson said.
