Chicago (WGN– Local leaders say that federal agents entered the National Museum of Puerto Rickon Arts and Culture of Chicago and refused to show a badge or identity.
WGN of Nexstar was informed that several federal agents arrived at the museum in the city’s humbolt park on Tuesday afternoon.
No prior notice was given, and when asked to show identity, federal agents allegedly refused.
“What happened yesterday was a deliberate intimidation strategy and has nothing to do with safety,” said the 35th ward Elderperson Anthony Kyzada. “It was to send a message to our unspecified neighbors, our cultural institutions and our entire community that they are being seen and they are not safe. But let me be completely clear, we reject that message. We will not be afraid. We will not allow the federal overache to violate our rights or we will protest.” We will protest. ”
Elderperson Jesse Fuuntes said many homeland security vehicles pulled the museum parking and stayed there for about two hours.
“We noticed that the parking lot was filled with about 15 to 20 homeland security vehicles,” Fuints said.
Safety cameras at Chicago’s Museum of Puerto Rickon Art captured immigration and customs enforcement or unexpected arrival of homeland security agents.
“What he did yesterday was a clear attack,” Quizada said. “A fear strategy. You are not welcome to Chicago.”
Agents allegedly commented on scheduled incidents in the museum that could attract unspecified visitors. Many were also investigating the entry and exit points of the building.
Members of the museum staff say they asked them to leave the property, but they kept roaming.
The leaders claim that the agents intimidated the employees and disregarded the legal boundaries.
