As any constitutional scholar will tell you, the Constitution dedicates as much time as the President’s power as it defines its widespread reach. But there is an exception to this: President forgiveness.
That broader power is clearly written Article II, section 2, section 1: “The President … will have the power to reprives and forgives for crimes against the United States, except for the cases of impeachment.”
The Supreme Court, under influence, later explained the provision that allows the President to forgive anyone for any crime, for any crime (except impeachment). In his outstanding book, “The Pardon”, CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Tobin argues that the use of forgiveness is a time where a president, for all practical purposes, is a “king”.
Such a terrible power was bound to misuse, and many Presidents, Republicans and Democrats have done so. Among other abuses, Gerald Ford forgives Richard Nixon To remove him from jail. Bill Clinton And Joe Biden forgives members of his own families Near the end of their terms. President Trump forgives supporters Who led to a storm at the United States Capital on 6 January.
But no previous misuse of forgiveness can compare with Sunday morning news shows in the last weekend, and who has not yet dismissed Trump: Jeffrey Epstein’s Associate Ghisleine Maxwell a potential presidential post for Maxwell.
Let’s remember who she is and what she is working for. Maxwell’s convict had a romantic relationship with the sex traffic Jeffrey Epstein. For years, she was Epstein’s Enabler and Procier. Many young women testified that this Maxwell himself, who had sought them, introduced them to Epstein, persuaded them to have sex with Epstein and other prominent men, trained them in sexual techniques, and participated in some of her sexual encounters.
In 2020, federal prosecutors alleged that between 1994 and 1997, Maxwell personally “Help, convenience and contributed“Despite knowing for the misuse of minor girls, one of the three unnamed victims was 14 years old.” He was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in jail that speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) As accurately described as “Terrible, inexplicable, conspiratorial work and work against innocent young people.”
And this should be the end of the story, but it is not. Suddenly, Epstein failed in every other attempt to change the story, the Trump administration is now counting its lifeline on Maxwell. Todd Blanches, former private attorney of Trump, now Deputy Attorney General went to Talhasi last week and spent nine hours in two days in Maxwell’s interview.
Why? We know why Maxwell agreed to talk: She wants to get out of jail. She has already asked the Supreme Court to reverse her criminal sentence. And now she is clearly engulfing a man to the presidency who admits that she was once one of Epstein’s best friends.
But by spending so much time with him, Blancch triggers a wave of speculation about Maxwell forgiveness. This is particularly bizarre, given that Maxwell has nothing to do with all the questions revolving around the White House about Epstein case.
Trump’s Maga Base wants to know why he spent six years and other administration officials to spread the principle of conspiracy that Epstein was murdered, while his customer list was only being covered to protect the powerful “nobles”, once in the office, to turn around, to turn around and report that Epstein committed suicide and no customer list. Why will they not release all Epstein files?
Gaya, the idea that young girls were convicted of sex trafficking, it would be unimaginable for a presidential post, it is unimaginable. Even Johnson, in a rare break with Trump, accepted “I have a lot of breaks about it, as any proper person will be,
But even more unimaginable that Trump did not shoot it immediately. Instead, when reporters were asked if he would consider an forgiveness for Maxwell, Trump would only offer a weak: “It’s something that I have not thought. I am allowed to do so, but it’s something that I have not thought about.”
In fact? There is nothing to forgive or not to do sexual hunters, about which Trump should think about. Their answer should have been an immediate, vigor: “No way, no. It is just crazy to do toy with thoughts.
Apparently, this is a point on which Republicans and Democrats may agree: sexual predators do not get Muligan. Ghhishline Maxwell is not worthy of a president forgiveness. Trump should also stop teasing the possibility of giving him.
