Houston Police union tries to recruit NYPD cops ‘disgusted’ with Mamdani win

A police union in Houston is attempting to recruit New York City cops out of “disgust” with New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani. Victory,

The Houston Police Officers Union posted a graphic on facebook Asked late Tuesday night, “NYPD, are you disappointed with the election of Zohran Mamdani?”

Democratic socialist Mamdani defeated political veteran and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday to win New York City’s top job. The New York Assembly member had already defeated Cuomo in the Democratic primary in June, resulting in nationwide attention.

Mamdani in October apologized The New York City Police Department (NYPD) was referred to for previous criticisms of the police force, calling them “racist,” “evil” and “corrupt.”

When Mamdani was asked if he would make a public apology to the officers, he told Fox News’s Martha McCallum, “Absolutely, I would apologize right here to the police officers, because this is the apology that I have been sharing with many ordinary officers.”

He added, “And I apologize for the fact that I want to work with these officers. And I know that these officers, these men and women who serve in the NYPD, put their lives on the line every day.”

Meanwhile, House Republicans’ campaign arm is launching a battlefield ad blitz Linking Democrats to Mamdani, who has faced scrutiny from the right over his democratic socialist affiliations.

In a press release, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) said it launched a paid advertising campaign in 49 “battlefield districts” in the wake of Mamdani’s victory, emphasizing “the full embrace of the Democrat Party’s socialism.”

The Hill has contacted the Mamdani campaign for comment.
