Facing one of the biggest rivals of his career, Cena defeated CM Punk in a chaotic match featuring multiple interruptions and a knockout by referee.

The first time this happened, Punk called a new referee from behind to bring out Money in the Bank winner Seth Rollins. Rollins came to the ring with Braun Breaker and Bronson Reed, who threw Punk into the announce table. Rollins then stood in the ring and called the referee so he could cash in his briefcase.

However, as the new referee ran to the ring, Cena knocked him down, leading to a face-off between the champion and Rollins.

At the end of the match, Cena and Punk shook hands and hugged, but Cena turned it around and attempted his finisher. Punk counted out fine, but Rollins responded by hitting Punk with his briefcase. Moments later, Cena pinned Punk to retain his title.

WWE Money in the Bank – June 7

Teaming with Logan Paul against Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes, Cena dominated early on – but an in-ring conflict with Paul resulted in Rhodes and Uso returning to the match.

In the end, the surprise appearance of R-Truth was the difference maker in this chaotic match as Rhodes ultimately pinned Cena for the win.

WWE Backlash – May 10

Cena faced Randy Orton, the two legendary wrestlers facing each other for the last time in their careers.

Both wrestlers traded blows in a back-and-forth matchup, with Cena accidentally hitting the referee with the championship belt and Orton delivering RKO after RKO on the Interlopers.

As Orton moved to eliminate Cena, R-Truth interfered. While Orton hit him with his RKO, Cena hit him with the championship belt and won the match by pin.

Final WrestleMania – April 20

Later, when Cody Rhodes rejected The Rock’s offer for his soul, Cena retreated and severely beat Rhodes after initially shaking his hand and hugging him. As a result of winning the Elimination Chamber match, Cena would challenge Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41.

His final Royal Rumble loss – February 1

It looked like Cena was going to win his third Royal Rumble, with the only thing standing in his way was Jey Uso. However, Uso rallied and eliminated Cena from the ring, shocking the wrestling world.
